River Pediatric Therapies has extensive clinical and educational experience in Autism Spectrum Disorders.
Everyone is unique! That’s why our Autism support program is individualized, threading social curriculum throughout each child’s therapy to enhance the acquisition and functional use of communication, sensory processing, motor abilities, cognition, and social interactions. We customize our intervention models based on each child's unique needs, finding the best fit to optimize learning.
Our therapists combine several approaches including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, communication and social skills training, and modeling real-life situations to help develop skills such as recognizing feelings, coping with anxiety, and building confidence and self-advocacy skills.
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy usually focuses on training a child to recognize a stressful situation - such as visiting a new place - and then select a specific learned strategy to cope with the situation.
At River, we also believe that parents, caregivers, and siblings play a critical role in their child’s therapy. We also offer workshops, education, and training to caregivers and family members to create a complete support system.
